For the juniors we have prepared a summary of the upcoming season which has further information (see Junior Season).

Preseason training for the Div 1 Men's and Women's team is as follows. Be prepared for a work out!

Next training is Thursday 2nd Feb GCHA. Women 6-7pm. Men 7-8pm. Following weeks will go back to Wednesdays (starting 8th Feb) at same times. Women 6-7pm. Men 7-8pm.

Saturday’s at the park/beach - 28^th January, 4^th 11^th 18^th February. These will be held at 3:00pm at Kurrawa Pratten Parklands (Park next to Kurrawa Surf Club).

Want to get fit for the 2012 season. A special sprint training course with professional trainers will be held early next year. It will start 10th Jan and run for 10 weeks. Cost will be $180. Contact Col (046 674 6347 or colin.rawding at nexon.com.au). 

Hockey Burleigh are seeking a 1^st Division Women’s Coach for the 2012 year. This is an exciting challenge for the right person to take on a very enthusiastic group including many of Burleigh’s victorious Under 18 side. Please email David Berglin at davidb at ctcafe.com.au if you are interested.

The Hockey Burleigh AGM will be held (Tues Jan 10th 2012). We are also calling for nominations for various positions. If you think you can make a difference, check out the numerous positions available and nominate now!

Once again its time to start collecting Paul's Milk Bottle caps. These are an excellent and easy way for the club to raise funds. So collect your own tops, your neighbours, local coffee shops, etc and see just how much we can raise.

Well the last of the rep games are played and we've had some excellent results.

Rosie Malone played in the U13G Qld team and took out the national titles in Alice Springs. Even better, Rosie was named Player Of The Tournament!

Burleigh had several girls play in the Gold Coast U18G team - Eleanor Rawding, Maddie James, Alex Nicol and Georgia Nicol. They when the state titles for the second year in a row. Eleanor was captain for the grand final game and you can see her  after game speech here (Elle speaks after Sue Dalton). Maddie James was selected in the Qld U18G squad.

Jeremy Stephens played in the U18B Gold Coast Div 2 team which also won the state titles. That now puts the team up into Div 1.

Dave Berglin and Ray Nicol have returned from the national titles in Canberra state. Dave's team made the grand final but went down 2-1.

After wonderful results in the grand finals, it was all smiles as the juniors attended their presentation afternoon on Saturday. We enjoyed a sunny, if windy, afternoon. The formal presentations were made first. 

Our new umpires for the season were presented with certificates and a HB embroidered towel for their hockey kit. These included Michelle Borg, Luke Butterworth, Devon Hamley, Louis Hassum, Elliot Jones, Rosie Malone, Samantha Oddy, Tobias Stuart and Zac Tollemache. The kids did the club proud and will hopefully continue next year. Thanks was also given to the club mentors Aleeta, Jeanette and Brian. Without there dedication, the kids would not be able to take the field.

Clint Colefax was awarded the trophy for outstanding efforts to the junior club with his efforts as U18 Girls coach over a number of years and training of the junior goal keepers. Well done Clint!

Each team was then presented with their trophies. This year everyone received photo trophies with a personalised comment...

What a wonderful weekend of junior hockey for Hockey Burleigh. Out of eight possible grand finals, Burleigh played in five of them. Out of five grand finals, Burleigh won all of them!

In the order of play:

U15B beat Labrador Black 3-2   (Aaron Foxover player of the final)

U15G draw with Labrador 1-1 to share the premiership (Rosie Malone player of the final).

U18G beat Mudgee 3-0  (Eleanor Rawding player of the final and player of the season).

U11 beat Labrador Teal 3-0

U13G beat Labrador Gold 2-1 (Rosie Malone player of the final and player of the season)

Truly a great result for the club and a satisfying reward for the hard work that has been put in by the coaches, managers, committee, parents and most of all the KIDS!
