2019 Membership

Hockey Burleigh Incorporated has been established since 1967. Hockey Burleigh is a member of Queensland Hockey and Gold Coast Hockey Association. We have long been established as a community driven club with much of our work being performed by dedicated volunteers. We welcome all members to our club regardless of whether they are hockey veterans or amateurs wanting to just have a bit of fun. So please don't hesitate to drop by and join the club.

We play all of our games at the Gold Coast Hockey Association playing felds at Musgrave Ave Labrador.

At Hockey Burleigh we cater for all ages and experience levels, Cubs, Joeys, U11, U13, U15, U17 and senior grades.

From first timers to Australian representatives, everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the family fun and cameraderie at Hockey Burleigh.

As well as learning the sport itself, playing hockey is a great way to teach children skills for life, including teamwork, sportsmanship and leadership, along with making a host of friends along the way.

Hockey Burleigh have many current representative players in Gold Coast, QLD and Australian teams. So why not come down and join one of the most successful, friendly family oriented clubs on the coast.

New Players Welcome

If you are new to hockey or returning after a break, Hockey Burleigh welcome you to join us at any time prior to, or during the season.

We always welcome new members.

Hockey Queensland are changing the way fees are structured and paid for in the 2019 season. As a result we cannot yet provide fee structure or registration details.
We will update you here as soon as the details become available

Government Grants

Get Started Assistance Program

Get Started is one of three funding programs that comprise the Queensland Government’s Get in the Game initiative to support sport and recreation at the grassroots level. Get Started assists children and young people who can least afford, or may otherwise benefit from, joining a sport or recreation club.

Eligible children and young people are provided with a voucher of up to $150 to help pay for club membership and/or participation fees.

The parent, guardian / carer will need to register for a QGrants account through the website and create a user name and password.

If the parent, guardian / carer have a Centrelink card they can complete the application form online without the need to do anything else. If they do not have a Centrelink card they can still apply, but they will need to get two referrals which can be the child’s teacher and principal.

Young Athletes Travel Subsidy (Queensland Government)

The Young Athletes Travel Subsidy (travel subsidy) aims to foster the development of young athletes and support elite athlete pathways by providing financial assistance to help alleviate the costs associated with attending championship events. The travel subsidy provides financial assistance through three event tiers and supports attendance at specific state, national and international events.

Officials (such as coaches, referees and scorers) officiating at eligible events can also apply for assistance if they meet the eligibility criteria.

Who is eligible?

Applicants eligible to apply for support after attending the event are those who:

  • competed or officiated (as a coach, referee or scorer) at an eligible Queensland state or state school event, Australian national or national school event or international event in the past 6 months

  • have been residents of Queensland for at least 12 months preceding the event

  • were under the age of 18 at the start of the event

  • travelled a road distance of at least 250km (one-way) from their place of residence to the event location (check road distances using RACQ’s trip planner)

  • flew or travelled by rail a radial distance of at least 250km (one-way) from their place of residence to the event location (check radial distances)

  • have participation at the event confirmed by the regional/state/national coach or manager.

Applications must be correctly submitted within six months of attending the event to be eligible.

What funding is available?

The travel subsidy will allow up to a maximum of $1,200 in financial assistance over the three event tiers, once every two calendar years. Eligible athletes and officials can apply for one event per tier once every two calendar years.

For example, if an applicant attends a state and international event in 2016, they do not need to wait two years to apply for a national event. Or, if the applicant applies for all three event tiers in 2016 they must wait until 2018 before being eligible again.

The following travel subsidy amounts are available under the three event tiers:

  • state or state school event—$200

  • national or national school event—$400

  • international event—$600.
